The collection consists of research files compiled by Thomas J. Schoenbaum while writing WAGING PEACE AND WAR: DEAN RUSK IN THE TRUMAN, KENNEDY, AND JOHNSON YEARS. Includes newsclippings and correspondence documenting the Rusk family; appointment books from Rusk's tenure as Secretary of State; memos, correspondence and subject files documenting Rusk's interactions with Presidents Truman, Kennedy, and Johnson, speeches, printed materials; and manuscript copies of the book. Of particular interest are records documenting Rusk's actions regarding the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War.
